Corfu was open durring the summer of 2020 and so it will be this coming summer season. Corfu has been under national lockdown since November 2020 and its latest figures that were announced show that the island will be open for summer 2021.
Greece's tourism minister Mr. Harry Theoharis has said that Britons looking for a summer holiday in Greece can start booking. At the moment the country has started vaccinating all the inhabitants of islands that have a population of 1000 or less and once that is done the bigger islands such as Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini and Crete are to follow suit with vaccinations.
Greece's vaccination policy has prioritized the vulnerable and ederly first at it's big cities like Athens and Thessaloniki but Harry Theoharis said if your going to go through the trouble of sending a medical team to an island for vaccinations then you might aswell vaccinate all of its inhabitants.
The tourism minister also stated that currently anyone looking to visit Greece this summer will need one of the following: a certificate showing they have antibodies against Covid-19 or a test that shows they are negative.
Last but not least Mr. Harry Theoharis said that Greece is trying to make it as easy and hassle free for visitors, adding: "Holiday travelers can start booking flights to the places they want to go."
